UCLA Downs UCSB this past weekend, Newport is out after round two

UCLA played UC Santa Barbara in their pool.  After a slow start getting used to the home team pool, UCLA became dominant in the second period and carried it into the fourth period where UCSB got two more goals.  Final score 11-4. UCLA plays Pepperdine this Saturday in Malibu at noon. 

Last Friday Newport lost to Santa Barbara in the CIF second round. Tough defense held the game to 2-2 through regulation and into overtime. Santa Barbara got a lob into the goal with 45 seconds left in the second sudden death overtime to clinch the game. Newport is now out of CIF contention and will compete in the CIF Master's tournament in December.
